Citizens Birth Center
At Citizens Birth Center, we recognize the importance of your baby’s birth, and we take pride in making each delivery special for our families.
Citizens Birth Center is a full-service labor and delivery unit with a well-baby nursery as well as a Level II neonatology unit. Citizens Birth Center is the only hospital in Victoria that has care from labor and delivery to intensive care for both mommy and baby under one roof. The unit has been designed for comfort and supports a family-centered approach to childbirth by taking advantage of a home-like setting. Our spacious birthing suites allow baby and parents to stay together as much as possible after the birth.
Miracle Moment
The birth of a healthy baby is a miracle that we at the Citizens Birth Center get to witness every day. The time immediately after birth is a special time reserved for bonding between parents and the new baby. After delivery and as mom decides, you have time with just your baby and partner if you wish. We call this first hour after birth our Miracle Moment. Our nursery staff promotes breast-feeding and will offer new mothers instruction and other tips for success. Your newborn will be in good hands while in the care of our NRP and S.T.A.B.L.E certified nurses. In addition, Citizens Birth Center employs a state-of-the-art security system and precise monitoring to ensure the utmost safety for all of our newborns.
Prenatal Classes
Your journey with The Citizens Birth Center begins when mom is 5 months along. We encourage our families to register early to take advantage of the complimentary prenatal classes we offer. Prenatal classes are designed to help inform parents about the birthing process, ease fears and increase preparedness.
Classes offered include:
Prepared Childbirth – Prepared childbirth covers all aspects of labor, delivery, and post-partum recovery including ways to ease pain along with potential complications.
Breastfeeding – The breastfeeding class, which is taught by Citizens Medical Center’s lactation consultant, helps educate parents on the benefits of breastfeeding as well as provide information on breastfeeding techniques.
Infant CPR – This is a quick, informative class geared toward helping expecting parents become familiar with the simple skills they need to sustain their baby's life until Emergency Services arrives in the event of cardiac arrest.
Sibling Class – Becoming a sibling can be a difficult, anxious time. The Sibling Class is designed to help younger children understand what is happening and prepare them for the birth of their sibling.
